Latest Bus Inspectors Podcast

Updated: Jul 22

The Bus Inspectors have launched Episode 5 of their flagship podcast, brought to you by the National Association of Road Transport Museum. Listen now: TheBusInspectors.com/podcast

The Bus Inspectors find out what happens to historic buses and coaches when they leave preservation and why there's no guarantee of a happy future.

Here's the trailer showing what you have in store...

We meet James, who made the difficult decision to sell a bus he had restored, and Louis, the current owner who loves the bus for what it has now become - a community cafe dedicated to the memory of his son.

James Freeman from Friends of King Alfred Buses describes the tragic fire of 2023 which claimed seven preserved buses... and the Friends' incredible project to rebuild one partial survivor, their 1950 Leyland Olympic.

The impermanence of preservation is why we need to prepare for the future and The Bus Inspectors' project to grade the nation's historic fleet is designed to help prioritisation of the most important survivors in future. You can hear plenty about the project throughout the series.

Plus, we hear about the 'ones that got away' - the buses and coaches we wish had made it to preservation. Will yours be mentioned?
